The Fallen Court of Acuity Arcanum

This is an ancient mythological origin story known to many societies of creatures living in the land of Sey.

In ancient times, the Court of Acuity had lived in the gracious and beautiful World.
Their magnate, the all-powerful Hierophant, blessed them with three truths: Love, Belief and Life.

Trusting these truths too greatly, three advisors - The Magi, The Choice, and The Winding Road - found their demise.
The Hierophant, overcome by anger at his subjects' carelessness, murdered The Oracle, framing The Prince.
Only after their innocent son was executed did the rulers discover the truth -
And The Empress and The Emperor sacrificed themselves to seal their corrupted god away for all eternity.
In this way the ruined Hierophant's truths, and their inverses - Hatred, Doubt and Death - were reborn.

Serving their purpose, the Court would all ascend to myth, The House of the Divine, far from the physical realm.

Prior to the ascension, The Four-Headed Court Dragon Themis I was thrice beheaded and set free by The Empress.
He lost three virtues - Strength, Justice and Temperance - and they scattered across the land.
His final virtue, Judgement, was given to the ancient dragons in the heavens.

The World and its Wheel of Fortune fractured without its rulers, and it reformed itself in three pieces,
also coalescing with the dragon's virtues and the reborn truths of The Hierophant. This is what gave way to mortal life.

And in death, the three lost advisors took their place in dominion and over the pieces of The World.
The Choice drew in The Sun, presiding over Love and Feeling.
The Magi drew in The Moon, presiding over Belief and Arcana.
The Winding Road drew in The Star, presiding over Life and Presence.

The shattered Wheel of Fortune was left circling above in the heavens, eventually changing its shape...
